Thyme oil is an extremely versatile oil, and considered to provide useful benefits to the immune system. Through working to protect the immune system, thyme oil may help fight colds, flu, infectious diseases and chills. It also is thought to act as a urinary antiseptic, and is considered very helpful for cystitis and urethritis. The oil has been known to strengthen the nerves, aid memory and concentration, help with the feeling of exhaustion and depression, whilst providing protection for the lungs. Thyme may be of much help in the treatment of colds, coughs, asthma, laryngitis, sinusitis, catarrh, whooping cough, sore throats and tonsillitis.
Thyme oil contains properties which give it a warming effect, which may be of assistance in cases of poor circulation, as well as for arthritis, rheumatism, gout, muscular aches and pains, sprains and sport injuries. It may also helpful for cellulite, anorexia, obesity and oedema. White Thyme is a wild thyme and is considered more complex and typically shows a higher concentration of key constituents than Red Thyme oil.
