Frankincense oil is reputed to have anti-ageing qualities. It is also thought to aid the healing of wounds and scars, and reduce skin inflammation. Indian frankincense is used to treat muscle and joint pain - in particular, arthritic conditions. Traditionally, Frankincense was used to clear congestion, assist with shortness of breath and to address inflammatory conditions of the respiratory tract. In aromatherapy, Frankincense oil is said to calm and soothe the mind. It helps to promote a meditative state and may even reduce anxiety and stress.
